I got this skirt at a thrift store, it was long (like almost to the floor if I had no shoes on). Which I thought was really cool, although almost too… uh… costume like.
So I had my friend Missy shorten it. And now I think it is officially my favorite party/celebration skirt.

It has been well over a year since I moved back to the midwest, with our four seasons and (in general) surprising weather patterns. I found that, moving from southern California, my shoe collection had grown quite… uncomfortable in cold weather. I’ve been slowly growing my boots and closed-toe-shoe collection ever since.
I am not about to tell you that wearing metallic toned clothing will make you cooler.
Or even that it will make you feel cooler.
But man, do I feel cool when I wear this skirt. And the feeling is all that matters…. right?
I’m wearing: skirt and jacket where thrift finds, tank from Target, purse from H&M, gold bangle from TopShop, tights are REALLY old, and shoes are from UO.
What colors do you love to wear?
xo. Emma

This such a fun and different outfit! Love the pop of metallic gold against the black! <3
I always find myself wearing light pastel colors. I just feel so fresh and light when I do, kinda weird …but oh well! Love this outfit!
YES. Yes, yes, yes… I LOVE this outfit on you.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that gold skirt! The whole outfit is amaze!
If I were a Teengae Mutant Ninja Turtle, now I’d say “Kowabunga, dude!”
I like the combination of the skirt and those shoes, it’s so unexpected:)
What an amazing skirt. I love when you find a piece of clothing that just makes you feel magic all day. I like when I wear black and some bold color. Like black and red, or black and pink.

Wow- the gold is incredible! I love wearing fall leaf colors right now- rust, burnt sienna, orange, gold. It’s nice to kinda match the trees!
I don’t know, man, I sort of subscribe to the thought that if you feel cooler in it, then you probably ARE cooler in it. Either way, you look wicked cool in this skirt. Metallics are cool.
your friend missy did an excellent job on that skirt! emma, i know you just got back to missouri a year ago, but i didn’t think you lived in california that long. i’ve lived in texas 3 yrs, & i still own all my coats, from when i lived in the rocky mtns. of course i keep all my old winter clothes for when visit there at christmas.cause in texas, i hardly ever even need to wear long sleeves.
metallic clothing might look cool, but i bet that skirt would warm like a solar oven in the winter. im thinking those mylar sheets they give runners after a marathon- soo cozy. lol.

One of my favorite colors to wear is navy. I also love white and yellow a lot. I actually just started a segment called “Color Theory” on my blog, where I discuss favorite colors to wear.
Wow, I love those booties! My practical shoe collection is quite small, and its something I definately need to work on seeing as where I live, the only seasons we have are Winter and July
That skirt is amazing, though!
i LOVE your bag and shoes!

Go gold or go home!
I love, love, love the metallic look. It can go SO wrong, but you nailed it. You don’t necessarily look like her, but you remind me a lot of Donna from That 70s Show, super cool and super hip. I’m guessing it’s because I read your Makeover Story (love x100 that section) over at A Beautiful Mess ^_^
But as soon as my hair gets long enough, I’m asking my hair stylist for your do.
My absolute favorite color to wear is brown. It’s such a beautiful color to wear and goes with everything.
I’m dreaming about COLORS! and you and your sister definitely inspire me A LOT!
Since I saw it on the Fossil catalogue, I’m dreaming about a deep green dress with a pretty red belt.
I’m dreaming about red shoes as well as mustard ones (the latter “because of” Elsie, I have to say)
I’m still totally looking for what looks and feels like ME so, I don’t really have favourites yet.
thank you
xx
nice shoes.i like it

Emma,
You do look SUPER Cool~~~~~
Love the look!
love it! I love navy blues, golds, creams and orangey brown colors this season (well, always but especially for fall)
wow emma…thats a party outfit!..love the texture of that skirt. I wear black alot…and have that same tank form target…where it all the time lately with cropped cardigans and jeans. ..are those wedges comfortable?..they look great with that skirt
My god that skirt is amazing. I love that it has that tough pattern on it of the criss crossy metal pattern thing which i cant remember what its actually called… but it looks awesome. What are you going to make from the rest of the material that you cut off? is there enough for you to make a bolero jacket or cushion covers? i love salvaging beautiful materials from un-wearable clothes, such a nice way to add colour around the house
love your style emma! that skirt is a great find. i’m not usually very adventurous with my style but the holidays always make me want to try something bolder – shiny, sequiney, bold jewel colors, etc. you pull it off well my dear. (:
I love your glittering skirt
XOXO

Rad look, Emma! I love the skirt, how cool of your friend to shorten it for you. And I’m impressed that your tights have lasted for a long time, because mine get ripped up within a week.
SUPER fun skirt!
