French Toast Custard

Frenchtoastcustard
Can I tell you a secret? Breakfast foods are my favorite. Here's some reasons why: I am a morning person anyway. I've noticed there tends to be a lot more vegetarian friendly breakfast dishes than any other meal. Many breakfast items are basically less sweet versions of desserts (oh no, i said it!). And I still think breakfast for dinner is a truly divine concept. I love breakfast. Yesterday I was in the mood for french toast, but I thought I'd put a spin on it:) And it worked-yummers!

Ingredients: 6-7 slices of bread (i prefer white for this, but wheat would work. and "texas toast" would probably be even better), 6 tablespoons melted butter, 3 eggs, 1 egg yolk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 tablespoon cinnamon.

Custard

Brush melted butter onto each slice of bread and arrange them in a greased pie dish or other small pan. In a large mixing bowl whisk together eggs+egg yolk, sugar, milk, heavy cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread, making sure mixture gets between all pieces and in every crack and cranny:) Preheat oven to 350 F. Place pie dish in another larger baking dish filled with enough warm water to cover the pie dish halfway up the sides. Bake for 30-32 minutes. Remove from oven and allow custard to cool for 15 minutes. Also I found that it was even better cold later that day. Makes 4 servings.

What's your favorite breakfast dish?

I can’t wait to try this…my family LOVES breakfast anytime we can get it…I’d say biscuits with tomato gravy is one of our staples (probably a southern thing!)

Wowsers, this looks fantastic. I’m a true Arizonan and love all spicy/Mexican-inspired breakfast foods. I’d have to say my fave is an omelet with tons of veggies, cheese, salsa, avocado and sour cream. And black beans. I’m officially drooling.
I nominated you for a pretty, and I think your answers would be fun: http://www.sunshine-cupcakes.com/2010/03/very-excite.html

That looks so yummy! I love egg in a bread, my Grandma used to make it as a special treat! When I’m going “gourmet” I make PW’s dish here:

I usually reserve it for family sleep overs since it makes a lot!

My teeth, I suddenly indolence walked so long road; endure for a long time to see the pain of his embarrassment. Now I saw nothing, but the achievement, early know will not come. “You got a job?” He suddenly asked me. “Not yet. As you introduce a hospital director or their son to me? Maybe I can catch retaliate ‘oh.” I feel very false smile, a bit like a woman in dusty 40s Boethius observed there. He said to the mouth, Zhan didn’t say anything. “I walked, goodbye.” I feel boring; don’t want to see him again.
